Dear ESPT members,
With summer holidays just behind us, we are again starting up for new developments in Pharmacogenomics and Personalised Medicine. The ESPT Board is working hard, together with Professor Filippo Drago and his team, on the 4th ESPT Conference, to be held in Catania Oct 4-7. We are proud to have a very interesting program with 25 internationally well know speakers, including keynote speakers such as Prof Sir Munir Pirmohamed (UK), Prof Magnus Ingelman-Sundberg (SWE), Prof Urs Meyer (CH), Prof Ann Daly (UK) and Prof Maja Krajinovic (CAN).
Specific topics that will be addressed are pharmacogenetic developments in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology and Psychiatry. Prof Pearson (UK) will discuss the role of pharmacogenetics in diabetes. And a special session on cell free DNA, as a new innovative biomarker to guide drug therapy, has been organized. Very much in focus are Decision Support Tools this year. We are proud to have 5 presentations on this particular topic, illustrating its crucial role in getting pharmacogenetic information to health care professionals to allow appropriate actions.
During this Conference, the ESPT General Assembly will be held on Thursday October 5, in which you can provide input on how ESPT can help to further stimulate research and clinical implementation of pharmacogenetics across Europe. The representatives of the 11 National PGx Societies will meet there. On Saturday morning, there will be a discussion forum and an interactive session on HORIZON2020 grant application possibilities. Interested in collaborating on an European project? Join us in the discussion!
If you did not do so: abstracts can be submitted until September 1! The top 3 abstracts will be selected for an oral presentation. Want to know what is going on in the field of pharmacogenetics? Please join us at the 4th ESPT Conference! (www.2017ESPTcongress.eu).
Looking forward to seeing you in Catania!
